Hilary Lee, MSc, Founder of Sensoria Global
Originally from the UK, Hilary has a background in Occupational Therapy from Oxford. Now living in Australia, Hilary’s focus with Sensoria Global is supporting international healthcare leaders and practitioners to enhance and evaluate their social and therapeutic programs for people with dementia.
Hilary Lee is a pioneer in neurorehabilitation and bringing out the human potential. She has unique experience working in practice facilitating rehabilitation for people with dementia, and in research, discovering how and why it is possible for people to experience improvement in dementia, as well as in other neurological conditions. She is an inspiring speaker and presenter, who can bring alive the newest neuroscience concepts behind practical skills, leaving the audience feeling empowered and motivated.
She has led initiatives to ease the transition to residential care, the identification and prevention of depression in dementia, and a multidisciplinary approach to palliative care. Hilary was primary editor for the book Creative Approaches in Dementia Care published by Palgrave MacMillan which showcases diverse forms of vibrant creative expression programs from international experts that encompass a person-centred approach.
Between 2006 and 2016 she chaired the Society for the Arts in Dementia Care (Australia) co ordinating innovative national and international conferences annually which had a powerful impact of shifting perspectives about the possibilities for rehabilitation of people with dementia.
Dalia Gottlieb-Tanaka, PhD.
Dalia graduated in 1976 from the Bezalel Academy of Arts & Design in Jerusalem, and received a Master of Architecture degree in 1980 from the University of British Columbia. She is the founder of the Society for the Arts in Dementia Care. The Creative Expression Activities Program she developed for seniors with dementia won an award from the American Society on Aging and the MetLife Foundation. She has undertaken research and delivered presentations and workshops internationally. Dalia has supported interdisciplinary collaboration with other professionals who share an interest in the use of visual and performing arts in the older population and in health care services provided to seniors with dementia.
Dalia instigated the development of the tool, together with Hilary Lee, spending many years in the co-development and research. Dalia is now retired and now lives in Vancouver, Canada.
Peter Graf, PhD.
Peter Graf, PhD, is Professor Emeritus at the University of British Columbia’s Department of Psychology, where he is the director of the Memory & Cognition Laboratory, and an investigator with the Brain Research Centre. His expertise is on human memory and related abilities, on how these abilities function in normal intact adults, how they change across the adult lifespan, and how they are affected by trauma or diseases such as Alzheimer’s. He has published extensively and presented his work at national and international conferences. the use of visual and performing arts in the older population and in health services provided to seniors with dementia.
Peter’s contribution to the CEAA Tool was quantifying the validity and reliability to provide accuracy in measuring client outcomes. He is currently based in Vancouver, Canada.
